A Message for You

Hello Eliot & Family,

I am so embarrassed that I have not written sooner, but we had a death in the family and things have been hectic for over two weeks. Sorry.

Anyway, I teach 5th Grade in Mauston at Grayside Elementary. I am praying for you and hope that you have a speedy recovery. I had cancer 10 years ago and it still freaks me out and I was an adult at the time. You really seem to be a special boy, and your Grandma Pam has been telling me lots about you when she's in our school.

Could you ask your Mommy and Daddy if it would be alright for my students to make cards for you?? Otherwise, we can send e-mails too, but I wanted to be sure that it would be alright.

Sincerely,

Ken Penfield

from Kesha

Hi Sweet Boy!
I am in the Dominican Republic right now studying and having fun. I
just wanted you to know people here are keeping you and your family
in prayer. I love you like crazy and wanted you to know that. I am
trying to read your blogs as much as possible. Here is a picture of
me at a brand new church that doesn't even have a building yet. It is
called Santa Anna. This day was the day before Epiphany and we
brought these children toys just like the 3 Wise men did for Jesus.
It is a big tradition here and these children wouldn't get toys
otherwise. We had so much fun playing games and singing. Well, I love
you!
Kesh

*note from Nancy - I'll get the picture up tomorrow.

A long-lost friend, Katie Crowley, is praying for you and has a happy story:

My cousin Jordan Wilke had leukemia when he was about the same age. It was tough, scary, sad and every emotion in between. He is now a happy, healthy 20 year old man in college and doing great!! Lots and lots of prayers….I ‘ll keep them going!

And from Jordan's mom:

I have been thinking of Eliot and your family since I heard the news about his illness. You know he has the same type of Leukemia that our son Jordan(now twenty!!) had. Jordan had just turned 3 when he was diagnosed. Just reading the things on the web sites, makes all those memories come back for me. I know he will do as well as Jordan, because the younger they are when they are diagnosed, the better the cure. Jordan has never come out of remission since he first when into remission after about 3 weeks of treatments. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

a message from Kesha

Hi Eliot!
Well, we are trying out this new blog thing because we are pretty bad
at staying in touch with people and thought this might help. Your
family is so good at it it inspired us. This is my (kesh's) attempt
to begin to be better about letting people know what's going on. I
thought you might like to see some pictures of Emmett the stinky
kitty, our doggies, Will and the the rest of this part of your god-
family.

Cathedral too!
